The Department of Quantity Surveying students and staff won 5 of the 6 awards at the recent 9th Annual Quantity Surveying Research Conference held in Port Elizabeth.
 
The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Department of Quantity Surveying hosted the 9th Annual South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession Research Conference held at the Boardwalk Convention Centre in October 2016. The conference was a huge success and was well attended by quantity surveying practitioners, professionals from other built environment related departments and students from various universities. Staff members and quantity surveying honours students from the NMMU Department of Quantity Surveying presented seven papers and were rewarded by winning five out of six awards at the conference (Last year the NMMU quantity surveying students won all six the awards).
 
The awards and winners are as follows:
  • Mr Chuma Rasmeni (Supervisor: Prof Gerrit Crafford)
    • The Leon Cronje Best Overall Youth Presentation U/35 Paper Award
    • The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors Best Presentation and Innovation Paper
    • The Sanlam Best Overall First Time Presenter Paper Award
  • Miss Khanyisa Mabala (Supervisor: Prof Gerrit Crafford)
    • The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors Best Youth Female Presentation
  • Mr Keanu Esmeraldo and Prof Gerrit Crafford
    • The Pentad Best Academic Paper Award
